About the event

Let's explore the intersection of mindfulness and craft.  Perhaps you already experience certain physical, mental or emotional benefits from knitting? Maybe knitting is a calming practice - or perhaps you’d like it to be? In this gathering, we will learn and share different ways that our knitting can support our mindfulness, connection and greater overall wellbeing. Bring any project you're currently working on (something simple that doesn’t require a complex pattern so that you can focus on the process rather than a particular technique), and join us for this facilitated experience which will include an introduction to crafting meditation practice, and group sharing. All stitchers are welcome. No previous experience with mindfulness or meditation is required. Tea will be served.

Suggested donation - $15

About the Facilitator:

Sarah Manion (she/her) believes in joy as a spiritual pursuit. She is a mindfulness meditation practitioner  in the Plum Village tradition of Zen master Thich Nhat Hanh. She lived in Africa for many years working with artisan cooperatives and textile producers, who showed her how making things with our hands is a way to embody our innate sense of being interwoven with the world. Sarah holds an MA in Nature-Culture Sustainability Studies from RISD and Kripalu Mindful Outdoor Guide certification. She is a student of many teachers including Robin Wall Kimmerer, David Abram, Mary Oliver, the Brewster flats, adrienne maree brown, Kate Fletcher, Larry Ward, her Grandmother and Aunt (both master knitters), her dog Lari, and all alpacas everywhere. Sarah lives in Sandwich with all her yarn. For more information about Sarah’s work, visit Interwoven Cape Cod.
