About the event

Are you ready and raggy enough to start this fun, traditional rug making craft called Amish Toothbrush? This is a simple technique of stitching with ripped up rags (in this case cotton) and building your rug in rows with the same, simple stitch. Remember how toothbrushes used to come with a hole in the bottom? Women would cut off the handle, dull it to a point, and thread rags through the hole to create these colorful and practical rugs.

This class will come with the hardwood Amish Toothbrush tool, and a bag of colorful long quarters of hand-dyed cottons to get you ripping and 'toothbrushing'. You can choose between an oval or a circle rug. Get the hard part done in class, and finish at leisure.

class taught by Deana David of Ribbon Candy Hooking.
